Privacy Policy

Confidentiality is of paramount importance to the relationship of trust between me and my clients and potential clients.

During the course of my work I will gather information about my clients and potential clients, and sometimes also those close to them, that is personal and may be highly sensitive. The information might be about health matters, family or lifestyle.

All the information I gather will be treated in the strictest of confidence and kept in line with prevailing data protection legislation. It will be:

  • fairly and lawfully processed;
  • processed for limited purposes;
  • adequate, relevant and not excessive;
  • accurate, and kept up-to-date;
  • not kept longer than necessary;
  • processed in accordance with the data subject’s rights;
  • secure; and
  • not transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area without adequate protection being provided to the personal data on individual subjects.

It is a condition of treatment, that all clients complete a Client Registration Form prior to treatment. Gathered information will include contact details, date of birth, details of GP, any medication being taken and desired treatment outcomes. Notes are also taken during any pre-consultation discussions and during the sessions themselves. The Client’s agreement to completing the Client Registration Form and participating in the hypnotherapy sessions is taken as consent to allow me to collect and process their personal information in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulations which come into force in May 2018.

The purpose of gathering the information is to build the best possible picture of the presenting issue, the individual him/ herself and the context in which they live so that the best possible therapeutic intervention can be devised and applied. Contact will not be made with the Client’s GP unless authorised by the Client and relevant to the treatment.

Client data and information will never be unlawfully passed to a third party and is kept in a locked filing system.

Where Client feedback is given in the form of testimonials, these will always be published anonymously, unless the Client provides a video testimonial in which case the Client is at liberty to choose which personal information to include.

From time to time, I create case studies based on genuine Client sessions for marketing and/ or training purposes. Where this is the case, no identifying data is used and details such as names, gender, age and other factors will be changed to ensure the complete privacy of the individual in question. The sole objective of developing and publishing case studies is purely for the training and development of fellow therapists or to help prospective Clients reach an informed decision on how hypnotherapy may be able to assist them in making the changes they are seeking.

All Clients and prospective Clients have the right to request a copy of the personal information held about them, and to request that data be updated if it is incorrect. Any such request should be made in writing. Where a request is made, I reserve the right to contact you personally to ensure that the request has come from you before any personal information is disclosed. Copies of the information held on you will be supplied to your registered address in the shortest possible delay.
